Running for President-Elect 2010

Tracy Atkins Wins Election

My name is Tracy Atkin and I am running for president elect for GESPA, your classified employee association. I am currently serving on the board as the secretary/treasurer and as the secretary representative for departments. I have served on the board for six years, three years as department representative and three years as secretary/treasurer and department representative. I have served on both the negotiations team and Advisory for the last six years for the association. I have represented many members in grievances and I am very familiar with the process, if I don’t know it, I will find out and get back to you. I have served on the membership and fundraising committees and was involved in the NEA TOO campaign and the AR representative campaign. I help every year with the GEA/GESPA, JEA/JCEA and CEA/CESPA annual fall appreciation BBQ and the Costco member appreciation shopping day. I am a hard working person and always strive to do my best. I will serve with honor and do my best to represent all classified employees and their respective departments. I will work to preserve the benefits that we have already fought for and will work towards new ones.  I work well with the superintendency and administrators and will strive to continue the good relationship that we now share with district officials. I would appreciate your vote.

Dave Clark

Hello Granite Classified Employees,

During my employment with Granite School District I have seen the value of quality representation for all employees and employee groups. I would like to offer my time and experience in representing Granite Education Support Professional Employees. I have been employed for twenty-five and a half years with Granite School District.  Twenty-two years in the Carpentry Department, and the last three and a half years in the Police Electronics / Safety Systems. During this time I have had the opportunity to serve on the GESPA Executive Board, and work in the following job titles: Apprentice Carpenter, Journeyman Carpenter, Lead Carpenter, Carpentry Foreman, and Locksmith Supervisor.

As we perform our various duties, in helping the education process move forward, we can be proud of our service and quality of work. Every job is important in serving the students and we need to maintain that position. I encourage you to vote for the one who you feel that would best represent GESPA.

Gordon Himmelberger

My name is Gordon Himmelberger. I’ve worked for the district for 13 years & served on the GESPA board. As president, there are many things I would do. First, and foremost, be there for our members when they need us to support and advocate for them, also to fight to keep what we have, and communicate our concerns and suggestions to our legislators, superintendency and others that would play an important part in our success. I consider myself honest and trustworthy and would be available as often as needed for any of our members that need assistance. Times are tough. AS members, we all have the responsibility to be informed and ask questions, and we deserve an honest answer in a way that can be understood. AS elected board members, we are obligated to answer those questions, or know what avenue to pursue to get those answers. With your support, I hope to make a difference for the present and the future.

Mike Memmott

My name is Mike Memmott; I am running for the office of President Elect for the classified employee association. I have worked for the district for 15 years. I have served on the executive board for many years; I have served as the department president and president elect. I have served on the negotiations committee and participated in the annual delegate’s conference for the state for many years now. I have represented many employees in grievance proceedings. I am always striving to learn more to be able to help our members protect their rights. I would love to serve the membership as the president elect of GESPA and I ask for your vote. I will serve to the best of my ability and give 110% always. If there is something that I don’t know, I will learn it, to better serve our members. I will work hard to preserve the rights that we now have and work towards gaining more benefits and rights for our membership.

Dennis Otteson

I am running for President Elect because we need a change and a lot of new ideas. Over the years of being a member, I have found out the two big things have been lacking with the board members of the association, there is a big gap in communication between the board and the members. Plus the follow through is not even there for the most part. We need some one who will be strong and not back down to those who would either take our jobs and benefits away from us. I am that person and I can not do this alone without your support. Many of you know me and what I will do and stand for as your President Elect. I am asking for your vote in order to serve you.
